Apple has been silent on Catholics’ petitions to remove from AppleTV+ a sacrilegious episode of a show that depicts Eucharistic desecration.

More than 410,000 Catholics have sent messages to top Apple executives asking for the episode of Your Friends & Neighbors to be removed, according to a petition circulated by CatholicVote. As Zeale previously reported, the episode shows a man and a woman breaking into what appears to be a Catholic church, robbing Hosts from the tabernacle, and treating the Blessed Sacrament as a snack, even dipping the Hosts in jam.

The writers and producers of the show cannot claim they were not aware of the significance of such a scene, CatholicVote noted in the petition, as the characters’ dialogue further mocks the Eucharist. In one part, the man holds up a Host and refers to it as “the Body of Christ” and then feeds it to the woman.

Despite hundreds of thousands of Catholics expressing their outrage at the blasphemy of the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus present in the Eucharist, Apple has not responded. Apple CEO Tim Cook has similarly ignored a letter from CatholicVote Vice President Josh Mercer that asked for the episode to be removed.

“Apple refuses to say anything to Catholics about their disgusting and blasphemous TV show,” Mercer stated. “Apparently their talk about dignity and respect was just that.”

CatholicVote continues to encourage Catholics to make acts of reparation for the desecration displayed in the show, especially as the Feast of Corpus Christi approaches on June 22.

“We are calling on Catholics to perform an act of reparation to the Blessed Sacrament to counter Apple’s blasphemy,” Mercer said. “An act of reparation could involve reciting prayers to the Blessed Sacrament, attending Eucharistic Adoration, or participating in a Corpus Christi procession. For this year’s solemnity of Corpus Christi, we are calling on all Catholics to elevate their devotion to the Real Presence.”

A simple prayer of reparation to the Blessed Sacrament can be found here.
